Village Big Band offers ‘that sunshine feeling’
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Hot Springs Jazz Society and the Unitarian Universalist Village Church will offer an hour of music featuring the Village Big Band beginning at 6 p.m. Friday outdoors on the grounds of UUVC, 403 Barcelona Road.
“Come with your lawn chair (and a cooler if you like) and listen to some great dance favorites, chart-topping hits, and a couple of smooth Latin pieces,” a news release said.
“HSV’s very own jazz band is ready to entertain. Even though it will be early evening, you’ll get that sunshine feeling when vocalist Maureen Morgan shares Stevie Wonder’s ‘You Are the Sunshine of My Life,’” it said.
The Village Big Band is under the direction of Hot Springs Jazz Society Outreach Director Jim Kelly.
The public is welcome to attend the free event. “If you are not a Hot Springs Village property owner, please visit www.hsjazzsociety.org, click on the Block Party Jazz image, then click on print here to view and print an event flyer to present to either the HSV East or West Gate,” the release said.
“Bring your friends and neighbors out to the UUVC lawn this Friday to relax and enjoy the music,” it said.
