The driver of a moped who was involved in a collision with an SUV Wednesday night at Broadway and Olive, near the Central Fire Station, was in stable condition at a local hospital Thursday afternoon, Hot Springs police said.

Shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday, the driver of a black 2021 Cadillac Escalade was northbound on Broadway Street and made a left turn onto Olive Street and reportedly failed to yield for the operator of a 2022 Honda Metropolitan moped who was southbound on Broadway, according to Hot Springs police Officer 1st Class Omar Cervantes.

The front of the Escalade collided with the moped. The male driver of the moped was injured and transported by LifeNet to a local hospital for treatment, Cervantes said. The other driver was not injured.

Hot Springs Fire Department personnel responded to the scene almost immediately since it was just up the street from the station.
