Marilee Phelps Correll, age 93, died on May 2, 2022, in Hot Springs, Ark.

She was born Oct. 8, 1928, in Kansas City, Kan., to Roger Mills Phelps and Goldie Ellen Smith Phelps. She was one of nine children, including her identical twin sister, Rose Marie Phelps Brazeal.

Marilee graduated from Argentine High School, Kansas City, Kan., in 1946. She was a member of the Argentian (newspaper) staff and she played violin in the orchestra. She married Darwin Leonard Correll, a sergeant major in the United States Army, in August 1955, and she and the family moved with him to seven states and to Germany during his 30-year career. Marilee, who was excellent with numbers and detail, worked at every posting — often as a bookkeeper. After moving to Arkansas in 1982, she became active at Gardner United Methodist Church and later in life at New Salem United Methodist Church. She enjoyed watching sports on television, reading the newspapers, doing puzzles, and cooking and baking for family and friends.

Marilee is predecease­d by her parents, her husband, and a daughter, Bonnie Sue Correll Lewin.

She is survived by three daughters: Mary Ann Correll Woods, Terri Correll Brazinsky and Elizabeth Ellen Correll. She also leaves three grandchild­ren: April Victoria Brazinsky, William Spencer Woods and Matthew Correll Woods. Her seven great-grandchild­ren are Lara Grace Woods, Jack Mcneill, Ray Mcneill, Kellen Cole Watson, Lila Mae Rosenberg, Maya Jane Rosenberg and Cora Jane Woods.

A private family graveside memorial will be held. Arrangemen­ts are by Gross Funeral Home.
