-

Elks Lodge No. 380 hosted a Kentucky Derby Party as a fundraiser to benefit the Lodge’s Maintenance Fund.

“A large crowd enjoyed multiple activities,” a news release said, including a horse racing memorabilia display provided by Roy and Ricky Frazier, both members and retired jockeys and trainers.

Ricky Frazier is in the Horse Racing Hall of Fame, and provided an “exercise horse” named Dump Truck, used by jockeys to warm up for races.

Members and guests participated in a Trivia Contest, as well as competing for prizes in a “Win, Place and Show” competition, and the ladies displayed hats of all types from elegant to original design.

John Junkerman, trustee, made cheese steak sandwiches, and mint juleps were featured during the party. Members also held a huge bake sale in conjunction with the event.

“The Lodge Maintenance Fund was the real winner at the completion of the events,” the release said.
