Clotilde Bayer retired to Hot Springs Village in 1993 and heard about The Floor Store on radio station KVRE. She describes her style as “traditional, but some eclectic,” and likes the “classic look.” Clotilde likes warm colors — no black, white, gray or blue — and wanted to keep a neutral palette that “anyone would like,” and chose different shades of beige “that blend well together.”
She enjoys crafts as a hobby, and is a costumer for the Village Players. She also serves on church committees, 8 and is a member the Desoto Women’s Club. Clotilde has a large blended family of seven May/june 2022 | HER MAGAZINE
children, 10 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, living throughout the United States.
She researched materials at Lowe’s, online, and through bath restore companies. Clotilde had several specifics in mind, including removing the soffit containing fluorescent light fixtures, installing new medicine cabinets, and installing electrical outlets inside medicine cabinets so toothbrushes, electric shavers, etc. could be stored inside and not left on the countertop.”
Zan Loar was the person I worked with, but the material choices and colors were my own. I appreciated being allowed to make my own choices based on my own likes and dislikes, and not being steered into what was most popular or what other people like,” she said. She also liked that The Floor Store employees “keep their commitments as to appointments, quality of work, and handling any issues that come up during construction.”
“The crews were top-notch workers, very thorough, kept me in the loop during the whole process, no issues whatsoever,” Clotilde said. “I can’t say enough about the professionalism about each trade that worked on this job.”
During demo, plastic sheets were hung across the doorway to keep dust contained, “they brought in large bags to contain the debris where it fell. Tarps were laid wherever the men had to walk, from the front door throughout the house. They swept up everything every night before going home,” she said. “I am very pleased with the finished job and the quality of the workmanship, so much so that The Floor Store is now working on a new project for me, a kitchen remodel. Can’t wait to get started!”
