“Thai Cave Rescue”

Immerse yourself in the inspiring true story of Thailand’s Tham Luang cave rescue in the new drama miniseries “Thai Cave Rescue,” premiering Thursday, Sept. 22, on Netflix. In 2018, 12 junior football players and their coach saw a fun day of exploration turn into an unimaginable nightmare in the blink of an eye when they suddenly became trapped in northern Thailand’s Tham Luang cave. Having entered the cave without worry or incident, sudden heavy rainfall partially flooded the cave system, trapping the group deep inside for 18 days. As the world watched with bated breath, the rescue effort — which made international headlines and involved more than 10,000 volunteers, rescue workers, divers, law enforcement officers, soldiers and government representatives — worked tirelessly to free them. This new six-episode series focuses on the young athletes’ experience as they anxiously await a way out. From showrunners and creators Michael Russell Gunn and Dana Ledoux Miller (both of “Designated Survivor”), “Thai Cave Rescue” is directed by Baz Poonpiriya (“Bad Genius,” 2017), Kevin Tancharoen (“Fame,” 2009) and Jon M. Chu (“Crazy Rich Asians,” 2018). The series stars Thaneth Warakulnukroh (“Bad Genius,” 2017), Papangkorn Lerkchaleampote (“The Stranded”), Manatsanun Panlertwongsakul (“Don’t Touch My Dad”), Arisara Wongchalee (“The Love Proposal”) and Urassaya Sperbund (“Brother of the Year,” 2018).
