Arvest Foundation donates $10,000 to OBHAW

- COURTNEY EDWARDS

The Arvest Foundation presented a $10,000 donation to Ouachita Behavioral Health and Wellness on Sept. 12 to go toward helping clients who can’t afford the center’s services.

“The Arvest Foundation comes to us each year and wants to know about impactful nonprofits in our community, and so we thought about Ouachita Behavioral and the impact that they have and the challenge that’s presented to them each and every year, and just wanted to be able to assist a little bit in the good deeds that they do each and every day,” Franklin Bass, Community Bank President of Arvest Bank in southwest Arkansas, said.

The center didn’t have funds to cover the cost of services for those who have high deductible plans or just can’t afford it, Susan Smith, chief operating officer for OBHAW, said.

“This $10,000 will go a really long way to help our clients that cannot afford that.”

The agency as a whole will benefit from the funds, Smith said, noting they will help with emergency services and outpatient services.

“Very appreciative of Arvest Bank for donating and choosing us as part of their foundation,” she said. “It’s going to benefit Ouachita Behavioral Health and Wellness and we are just thankful that they chose us.”

“Thankful that Arvest allows us to make an impact, but more thankful for the people that have that impact in the community here at Ouachita Behavioral Health,” Bass said. “And just so thankful that we have a center like this that can treat over 5,000 people each and every year and just thankful for good partners like Ouachita Behavioral.”
