PEARCY — Harold D. Tankersley, age 92, of Pearcy, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023.

He was born on Jan. 31, 1931, in Red Oak, Ark., the son of Ben Tankersley and Lecie Moore Tankersley. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Roy Dean Tankersley; one daughter-inlaw, Gayle Tankersley; four brothers, Louie Tankersley, Bill Tankersley, Rube Tankersley and Claud Tankersley; seven sisters, an infant sister, Martha Sanders, Opal Burks, Evelyn Donaldson, Ida Mattingly, Bernice Rowe and Mildred Sorrells.

Harold was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. He worked and retired from the Garland County Road Department. He was a member of the Royal Order of the Moose. Harold loved working with horses and mules. He was friendly and outgoing and a mule trader at heart, trading saddles and tack. He loved his family with all his heart, especially his grandchild­ren. He enjoyed taking care of his animals and going to horse auctions with his partner-in-crime, Rexey. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

He is survived by two sons, Dewayne Tankersley and Rex Allen Tankersley; one daughter, Debbie Tankersley; 11 grandchild­ren; 22 great-grandchild­ren; three great-great-grandchild­ren; one sister, Rachel Moore; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, with Brother Teddy Hill Jr. officiatin­g, in the Smith Family Funeral Home chapel, Hot Springs.

Interment in the Oma Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023.

Pallbearer­s are Rodger Bates, Dennis See, Chucky Hayes, Dakota Hayes, Kenny See, Aspen Yarbrough and Rickey Lambert.
