Wilmington O. Charles, 79, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away on March 5, 2023, in Hot Springs, Ark.

BENTON — With great sorrow and bitterswee­t gratitude, the Lavender, Noles, Mayberry, Larson and Mosier families announce the passing of our loving, kind, caring, devout and unimaginab­ly generous mother, sister, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r and friend, Lena Christine “Chris” Lavender Wright, age 92, of Benton, Ark., passed away on March 3, 2023.

Chris was born April 12, 1930, to Armon and Marie Lavender in Hot Springs, Ark. After Chris graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1948, she went to study business at Draughon School of Business.

After graduating with a degree in business, she started work for the State of Arkansas, kickstarti­ng a 20-plus-year career as a state employee working for multiple agencies. She also worked as an administra­tive assistant for Drs. Ashby, Hogue, Thorne, Joe Martindale and Tilley for 10-plus years.

In 1950, Chris met her loving husband J.D. Wright at Lonsdale Skating Rink. Chris and J.D. went on to have three beautiful daughters, Kathy Wright Larson, Karen Wright and Lisa Wright Mosier.

In 1992, Chris retired and spent her time with family, traveling, attending church and volunteeri­ng in the community. She was a loyal and faithful servant to our Lord and Savior. Her dedication to church and family was admirable. She was very active in the church and in the lives of her loved ones. She volunteere­d in the church office, sang in the church choir, coached softball, led Girl Scouts and participat­ed in many more activities to show her love and devotion to her family, friends and church.

Chris was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Wright; her parents, Armon and Marie Lavender; and her daughters, Karen Wright, Kathy Wright Larson.

She is survived by her sisters, Vera Noles and Lois Mayberry; her daughter, Lisa Wright Mosier; her sons-in-law, Mike Larson and Timothy Mosier; her grandchild­ren, Jenny Larson Cook (Adam), Jay Larson, Lela Mosier Cook, Lynzi Mosier Frizzell (Zack); her great-grandchild­ren, Matthew Cook, Jason Cook (Abby), Clinton Cook and Lyna Frizzell.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Pam Gudino, Gentiva Hospice, Andrew, RN with Gentiva, Alcoa Pines Health & Rehabilita­tion and Arkansas Asset Protection Group.

Visitation services will be held 1 p.m. and funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Benton, Ark., on March 10, 2023. Burial will be at Hicks Cemetery following services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to First United Methodist Church of Benton or CJCOHN, organizati­ons she felt strongly about.
