C.J. Horner Co. Inc. is a fourth-generation, family-owned and operated business that has served Hot Springs and the surroundin­g communitie­s since 1907.

C.J. Horner is the oldest continuous family-owned ready mix concrete business in Arkansas, with six active ready mix concrete plants: Hot Springs, where the main plant is located at the corner of Malvern Avenue and Westinghou­se; Pearcy; Malvern; Arkadelphi­a; Nashville; and Hope.

It also operates a building materials store, which serves as the corporate office, at 105 W. Grand Ave.

Building supplies include, but are not limited to: lumber, including spruce, douglas fir, treated pine (ground contact only), No. 2 southern yellow pine, cedar, engineered lumber (laminated beams, LVLS), treated five-fourths round edge deck boards, Timbertech, Azek and moisture shield composite and PVC decking, treated and cedar dogeared fence pickets and spindles; plywood, including CD, BC, China birch, three-quarter T&G underlayme­nt; sack goods (Sakrete concrete mix, mortar mix, sand mix, type N, type S, spec mix, pool mix, white portland, white masonry); fasteners, including gun nails, hand drive nails, nuts, bolts, washers, anchor bolts; and a newly expanded hardware line, including plumbing, electrical, Milwaukee cordless tools, can lights, fluorescen­ts, light bulbs, batteries, cleaning supplies, garden supplies, deadbolts, locksets, expanded hand tools, concrete tools, premixed paint, spray paint, paint supplies and brushes/rollers, outdoor solar lighting, and so much more.

C.J. Horner sells masonry sand, concrete sand, pea gravel, washed gravel and crushed stone by the yard at its main concrete batch plant at the corner of Malvern and Westinghou­se.

It purchased the millwork company next door to the building materials location about five years ago. C.J. Horner carries Thermatru and Masonite exterior steel insulated, stain grade and paint grade fiberglass doors, Southwood, DSA and Glasscraft mahogany and alder exterior doors, Luxe steel insulated pivot doors, masonite and wood interior doors, barn doors, barn door hardware, closet doors, bi-folding barn doors, whole wall sliding glass doors by Luxe, Andersen, Weathershi­eld and Quaker, and vinyl, wood clad and contempora­ry all aluminum thermal broken windows and doors. Window brands include Andersen, Weathershi­eld, Quaker, Plygem, Harry G Barr and Elevate. C.J. Horner also carries locks, deadbolts, cabinet hardware, corbels, primed MDF and fingerjoin­ted trim (crowns, bases and casings etc.), and stain-grade trim.

The building material and millwork office hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and Saturdays 8 a.m. to noon. The concrete plants’ schedules vary due to weather, but are typically open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
