Kay L. Moore
ANNA, Texas — Kay Lynn “Katie” Moore of Anna, Texas, passed away on March 6, 2023, at the age of 64, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She is survived by her father, James “Jim” Moore and stepmother, Anita Moore, of Hot Springs; her sisters, Lisa (Jim) Medford of Crestview, Fla., and Summer Moore (John Meyer) of Honolulu, Hawaii; her nieces, Mackenzie Thomas (Eric Williamson) of Crestview, Fla., and Madison (Jojo Hendrix) of Panama City, Fla.; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her mother, June Clifft Bulger.
Katie was born in Little Rock, Ark., and graduated from Parkview High School. Before moving to Anna about 10 years ago, she lived in McKinney, Texas. Katie spent many years as a licensed massage therapist, working both for her own company, Blissfully Beautiful, and, since 2011, Spa Esoterica in McKinney.
Katie was a loyal, generous, and kindhearted person, and her lifelong passion was caring for cats. She always kept at least six to eight cats, many of them feral cats she had rescued. While in Arkansas, she became involved with a cat rescue group called Feline Urban Rescue and Rehab (FURR). After moving to Texas, Katie was inspired to start her own nonprofit rescue group to provide better support for cats in need. Plans are being made to carry her vision for The Lazy C Cat Ranch forward, with the generous assistance of her friends.
Katie was active as a performing artist throughout her life. She studied ballet from a young age and danced with Ballet Arkansas for many years. Another passion was sharing her beautiful voice with others. She sang professionally at various concerts, civic events, and many other venues around Little Rock and later the McKinney/Dallas area.
She was a member of the United Spiritual Center in Sachse, Texas, where she often sang at the Sunday morning services. She was an active member of the Singing Unity Choir at Unity of Dallas, performing with an ensemble including featured solos. Katie was also a valued member of the Chancel Choir at First United Methodist of Celina, Texas.
Her memorial service was held on Sunday, March 12, 2023, in Van Alstyne, Texas.
