Carter Leland McCaslin went home to be with his Savior Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Carter was born on June 21, 1933, in Royal, AR to John Leland McCaslin and Ive Lee Kelton McCaslin. He attended Lake Hamilton schools. After school, Carter served in the United States Navy. After his time in the service, he got a job with Arkansas Power and Light, where he served in many roles for 35 years. Carter also served as a volunteer deputy for the Garland County Sheriff’s Department.

On June 7, 1956, Carter married the love of his life, Leola Jane McKinney Brown. The couple would raise a son, Bill Brown, and in June of 1957, they welcomed a daughter, Laura.

Carter was a deacon and charter member of Hot Springs Baptist church, where he made many lifelong friendship­s. He was an avid gardener and a skilled woodworker.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Leola Jane McCaslin; son-in-law, Mike Karber; brothers, Richard McCaslin and John McCaslin; and sister, Wanda McCaslin Buttrum.

He is survived by daughter, Laura Karber of Hot Springs; son, Bill Brown and spouse Dorothy of Hot Springs; granddaugh­ters, Angela Randall and spouse Rachele of North Port, Fla., Susan Brown of Hot Springs, Amanda Eye and spouse Brad of Hot Springs, and Tish Wisener and spouse Jay of Bryant; along with 12 great-grandchild­ren he loved dearly.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Friday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

A celebratio­n of Carter’s life will be 11 a.m. Friday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with Brother Mike Smith and Pastor Manley Beasley officiatin­g.

Burial will follow at Lowe Cemetery in Royal, Ark.

Pallbearer­s are Randy McCaslin, Jay Wisener, Gavin Bauer, Hunter Maxwell, Tanner Maxwell, and Brad Eye.

Honorary Pallbearer­s: Sam Windell’s Sunday School Class, Gerald Taylor, and Brent and Loretta Roach.
