CHI donates array of supplies to NPC nursing/health sciences

-

CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs is investing in the future of nursing and health science students at National Park College, donating an array of supplies to the school’s Nursing and Health Science programs.

NPC staff collected the items last week, which included catheters, disposable gowns, waterproof pads, and gloves.

Janice Ivers, NPC dean of Nursing and Health Sciences, said in a news release the donation of essential items contributes to NPC’s advancement of health care education.

“This commendable act of philanthropy specifically targets four out of the seven nursing and allied health programs, providing invaluable resources for hands-on training and skill development,” she said.

“The collaboration between CHI St. Vincent and National Park College exemplifies a commitment to nurturing the next generation of health care professionals, fostering a positive impact on the quality of education and health care within the community,” Ivers said.

Last month, after receiving a donation from the Arvest Foundation, she noted how vital such equipment and materials are in the programs’ hands-on experiences for the students.

CHI made a similar donation of supplies in November that totaled nearly $1,500. CHI Nurse Excellence Manager and Magnet Program Director Laura McAnally said in the release this most recent donation came out of a cleaning effort by her education department.

“As we were going into the new year, our team was organizing our supplies and realized we had supplies we could no longer use,” she said, noting they reached out to her to suggest donating them to NPC for the nursing students.

“Our patients consist of visitors passing through Hot Springs, but most are the people in our community. We care for all of them as though they are our own family. Being able to give our future nurses more resources to be the best they can be just means the world to us. We know these resources will lead to giving our patients the best care possible.”

NPC also offers a CHI St. Vincent Pathway Program that provides

financial assistance to students enrolled in the school’s Registered Nursing Program.

In April 2022, CHI President Dr. Doug Ross presented the CHI Pathway award scholarships. He said health care professionals in communities are “heroes,” noting, “We’re excited to partner with organizations like National Park College who are investing into, really, the future and lifeblood of our organization — the nurses and health care professionals.

“I can tell you that graduates of these programs that come into our facility are highly trained, they are very successful, and most importantly to me is they all have a kindness and compassionate spirit that we really strive to give to all of our patients.”
