CCMC welcomes new pharmacist-in-charge

-

Cooperative Christian Ministries and Clinic recently welcomed Rhoda McMoran as the new pharmacist-in-charge for the charitable clinic’s in-house pharmacy, but McMoran is not new to the clinic’s work.

Shortly after moving to Hot Springs several years ago, McMoran served as a volunteer pharmacist with CCMC, a news release said.

McMoran joined the U.S. Air Force when she was right out of high school and became a flight line mechanic. After an assignment in Japan, she came to Arkansas and left the Air Force. She eventually graduated from UAMS School of Pharmacy and became a licensed pharmacist, the release said.

In addition to being CCMC’s pharmacist-in-charge, she is also a part-time pharmacist at CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs, where she learned about the charitable clinic’s need for a pharmacist, but “gave little thought to it,” it said.

Still, she felt a nudge to look into the position but didn’t act on it at the time. Then, she read the article “CCMC Seeking New Pharmacist” in The Sentinel-Record’s Nov. 16, 2023, edition and “knew God was guiding her to apply.” A few weeks later, she was the new CCMC pharmacist-in-charge, the release said.

McMoran assumed her position just as CCMC began relocating the pharmacy to a new area within the charitable medical clinic, located at 133 Arbor St. She worked with volunteer pharmacists Jim Carpenter and Peggy Bebon to design and organize the pharmacy to optimize that space and make it ready for the first clinic of 2024 on Jan. 10.

“I am so proud to be part of the winning team of CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs pharmacy staff and so grateful to also be part of CCMC’s charitable clinic work,” McMoran said in the release.

“I’m so proud of CHI St. Vincent for the amazing work they do in our community and their partnership with CCMC. I’m also so blessed to have the opportunity to serve CCMC’s charitable patients who would not otherwise have access to medical care or the pharmaceutical services we provide,” she said.

“Other volunteer pharmacists, pharmacy techs, and interpreters work with me to ensure that we run an efficient, well-run pharmacy dedicated to our charitable patients and making a difference in their quality of life.”
