Earth Angel
The Hot Springs Solid Waste Department collects residential yard waste, such as leaves, grass and small brush, from the curb every other week.
Yard waste must be put in plastic bags and placed along the curb prior to 6 a.m., but not prior to 6 p.m., the day before the normal recycling day. Residents are allowed to place up to 50 recycling bags per yard waste collection day along the curb.
Small shrub trimmings need to be bundled and should not be longer than 3 feet in length or 3 inches in diameter. Do not mix any other items in with the yard waste, such as household waste, rocks or dirt. If a bag does have mixed materials, it will not be able to be collected for recycling.
This service is intended for residential customers only, and should not be used to subsidize any lawn services.
Once collected, these materials are taken to the city’s Compost Facility where they will all be recycled into leaf mulch, wood grindings and compost. These new materials are then able to be placed into new and established lawns; flower boxes/beds and other containers; and even vegetable gardens to help nurture the environment with numerous benefits.
