The Ohio Club is considered to be Arkansas’ oldest continually operating bar and home to one of the more unique gangster back stories. If the food and extracurricular activities were good enough for Al Capone, then the food was good enough for me to try.

I have been to The Ohio Club several times in my 12 years of living in Hot Springs mainly for the Old Fashioned Burger, local craft brew or hot wings.

This time I was feeling a little extra adventurous and tried something I not only have never had at The Ohio Club, but never before.

The Holy Guacamole Burger caught my attention from the framed menu out front. The thought of fresh guacamole, sauteed peppers, Pepper Jack cheese, chipotle ranch, and lettuce were enough for me to get excited.

I walked through the door, which was like a passageway in time to even a bartender dressed in early 1940s clothing. She greeted me well and I placed my order at the bar the original 1905 owners barged in from Cincinnati, Ohio.

The food took around 10 minutes to receive, which I was OK with as I am a sucker for taking a curious look around. I got my burger and fries and decided I would grab the bench next to the Al Capone statue and have my lunch right there.

Since Capone was not much for conversation, I dug right in and the cook was a perfect medium-well as requested and the chipotle sauce made the burger sing.

The fries were crispy, but there were not very many fries. I gave my experience four stars overall. The meal came with a price tag of $18 and a beautiful walk downtown.
