BRENDA K. JOHNSON

On April 13, 2024, Brenda Kay Johnson gained her heavenly wings and entered into her final resting place in the arms of Jesus.

She was born in Hot Springs, Ark., on Oct. 19, 1949, to John and Maxine Ragsdale. On April 15, 1967, Brenda married the love of her life, Howard Lewis Johnson, which was the beginning of their beautiful love story of 57 years.

Brenda truly lived a sacrificial life of service. When at home, you would most likely find her barefoot wearing out another broom, sewing for her grandbabies or on special occasions, making her famous chili or cinnamon rolls. She loved to draw, write poetry, garden and had the voice of an angel in which she used to proudly worship her Savior.

Brenda was a devout housewife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Sunday school teacher of 50-plus years, and election poll worker. She took pride in each of these roles.

If every kid had a Mimi like Brenda, the world would be a different place. Anytime she got word that a grandbaby was sick, she was on the way with goodies to heal our hurts. She remembered every detail about our lives, big and small, and was always one of the first to call or text to check in. She was our errand buddy, piddle companion, and go-to lunch date no matter how last minute. She was there for everything without the blink of an eye.

She is survived by her soulmate, Howard L. Johnson of Jessieville; two daughters: Melissa Speers (Jimmy) and Dena Burks (Buddy), both of Jessieville; four grandchildren: Brittney Jackson (Robert), Curtis Davis (Logan), Jessy Speers (Courtney) and Lyndsie Fetters (Jacob), all of Jessieville; 13 great-grandchildren: Shania, Aubrey, Brooks, Colt, Fallon, Jessa, Jade, Jeremiah, Holden, Kylee, Bella, Weston and Ava; two brothers: Gary Ragsdale, Randy Ragsdale (Carlotta), both of Jessieville; sister: Karen Rash (Tim) of Jessieville; aunt: Kathleen Lindley of Clarenden, Ark.; cousins, nieces, nephews and many treasured friends.

The family would like to thank Baptist Health Center of Little Rock, Dr. Allen Lewis Jr., Dr. Evan Watts, Dr. Cates, Care IV Home Health, Elite Home Health, CHI St. Vincent of Hot Springs, CHI St. Vincent Home

Health, Christal Chandler of Palliative Community Resource, and the many friends and church families that prayed for Brenda.
