Local sex offender arrested for failing to report address

- STEVEN MROSS

A registered Level 2 sex offender living in Hot Springs was arrested Tuesday evening for allegedly failing to update his address with local law enforcement agencies.

Michael Eugene Bradshaw, 76, who listed a Rock Creek Road address at the time of his arrest, was taken into custody around 6:15 p.m. in the 500 block of Albert Pike Road on a felony warrant for failure to comply with sex offender registration and reporting requirements, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Bradshaw was released the next day on a $3,500 bond and is set to appear June 21 in Garland County District Court.

According to court records, Bradshaw pleaded no contest to a felony count of sexual indecency with a child in Pope County on Dec. 13, 2016, and was sentenced to six years’ probation.

The charge stemmed from his arrest on Oct. 1, 2015, following a sting by Russellville police where an investigator masqueraded as a 14-yearold girl and arranged to meet Bradshaw at a motel there where he was arrested when he showed up in possession of “roses” and “sexual devices.” After his arrest, Bradshaw reportedly admitted he came there “to engage in sexual contact with someone he believed to be 14.”

On July 21, 2020, Bradshaw was arrested in Garland County for failure to register as a sex offender, but the charge was withdrawn on Oct. 26, 2020.

According to the probable cause affidavit on Tuesday’s arrest, on Dec. 26, 2023, Bradshaw registered as a Level 2 sex offender, considered a “moderate risk” to reoffend, with the Hot Springs Police Department and completed the verification process listing an address in the 3400 block of Central Avenue.

On Feb. 16, Bradshaw reportedly left his Central Avenue address and failed to report his new address as required. On March 19, he was arrested for reckless driving and taken to the Garland County Detention Center. He allegedly failed to report his arrest within five days of being incarcerated as required by law.

At the time of his arrest, he provided the Rock Creek Road address and the affidavit notes he failed to report his new address to the Garland County Sheriff’s Office despite now living in their jurisdiction.

“Bradshaw has failed to update his new address and as of (Monday) still has not returned to the Hot Springs Police Department or Garland County Sheriff’s Office to verify and update that information which is 36 business days past the stipulated date to update his information for registration,” the affidavit says.

A warrant for Bradshaw’s arrest was issued on Monday.
