Two days after their thrilling 5957 victory over Loyola University in the NAIA national tournament first round, the third-seeded Mustangs were handed a 55-62 loss to the second-seeded Campbellsville University Tigers, last year’s national runner-up, Friday in the tournament’s second round.

Friday’s loss concluded the seventh-ranked Mustangs’ 2015-16 campaign at 25-6. Notably, TMC’s impressive record marks its eleventh 20-win season in program history. Of their 11 total trips to the national tournament, the Mustangs now have a combined 7-11 record.

At the conclusion of the 2015-16 campaign, head coach Dan Waldeck has amassed 159 wins and 89 losses.

After four close quarters (13-15, 8-17, 11-19, 14-20) TMC finished the game by going 19-for-42 (45 percent) from the field and 3-for-12 (25 percent) on 3-pointers. In their finale, the Mustangs tallied 32 rebounds, 14 assists, eight blocks and five steals.

scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Megan Lindsley joined Lowery by scoring in double figures by draining 14 points. Nicole Nitake paced TMC with five assists, while Lowery tallied six blocks.

Another notable stat was TMC’s trio of seniors (Shannon Kingery, Olivia Thompson, and Nitake) were the first

Mustangs in program history to make four-straight appearances in the NAIA National Tournament.

Baseball

A day after falling to Biola University 8-3, The Master’s College baseball team avoided being swept for the third time this season by a GSAC opponent by splitting its double header against Biola on Saturday (a 4-3 loss and a 4-1 win) in La Mirada.

With the split, TMC’s record moved to 18-11 overall and 8-7 in

conference play. Currently, the Mustangs are in fourth-place in the conference standings.

Due to the upcoming Easter holiday, the Mustangs face a short week before battling its next conference opponent as Arizona Christian visits Placerita Canyon for a three-game series beginning Wednesday at 3 p.m.
