Paul Edward Boog
1923-2016
Longtime Santa Clarita, CA resident and former real estate broker, Paul Edward Boog, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016. He was born August 22, 1923 in St.Paul, MN to Alexander Boog and Angela (Stewart).
Paul was married for 46 years to Joan Marie Boog who preceded him in death. He received a B.A. from the University of Minnesota and an M.A. and PHD in Gerontology from UCLA. He served in the Navy during World War II and worked for many years at the Student Health services at UCLA. Together with son, Bob, he and Joan formed a real estate company called ERA-Boog Realty, and when Bob later took over the company, it became known as Bob Boog Realty.
Upon his beloved wife’s death in 1994, Paul retired to Port Hueneme, CA. where he lead a varied and active social life which included cruises to Greece, Alaska, and Mexico. He also enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, ballroom dancing, golf, and swimming. He was an advocate for seniors and one of the founding members of the SCVCommittee on Aging. Even at 92, he participated three times a week in Sharon’s Sizzlin’ Senior Exercise Class.
He was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Santa Clarita, the Knights of Columbus, and Father Serra parish in Camarillo. A voracious reader, Paul also enjoyed playing cards, solving Sudoku puzzles and was a happy, joyful and good man with a ready smile, a quick wit and a fantastic sense of humor.
Paul is survived by his daughter Pat Boog; son Kevin Boog and his daughter Annalise Van Aken; daughter Jackie Kipka and son-in-law Gary Kipka and their children, Christopher and Jonathan Kipka; his daughter Margo Hellman and son-in-law Mark Hellman and their children, Kristin (Nakashima) Mara, Tim Nakashima, Bryan Nakashima, Matt Hellman, Vanessa Hellman and Patrick Hellman; his son Bob Boog and daughter-in-law Roxana Boog and their children, Brandon and Kevin Boog; his daughter Paula Wright and son-in-law Randy Wright and their son, Nathan Wright; son Tom Boog and his sons Kyle and Ian Boog; Sean Boog and daughter-in-law Vica Boog and their children, Anastasia, Anna, Alexandra and Ava Boog; daughter Rosellen Boog. He is also survived by his sister Jean Cerkovnik, brother Leo Boog, and their respective families, as well as a host of other family members, neighbors and friends; exercise and dance partners ~ all of whom will miss having Paul in their lives. A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 23233 Lyons Ave, Newhall, CA 91321. A life celebration will follow at the Old Orchard clubhouse.
