Santa Clarita Mental Health Center Recovery International

-

Don Richards, the force behind the mental health meetings at Santa Clarita Mental Health Center Recovery International, is a local Santa Clarita resident who is so passionate about what he does that he does it well, and with some laughter too. For instance, he calls “Road Rage” not only “an asinine phrase” but “an infantile temper tantrum in traffic!”

Richards, who piloted the program years ago, is still there, every Tuesday (except holidays) from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. And get this: it’s all free!

These meetings, which are held on Cinema Drive, are brilliantly designed to help anyone who wants or needs to learn how to give up the infantile and emotional, temperamental mindset that was foisted off onto them as kids, and which may still torment them. This training is best described by its slogan: “Train yourself to be mature and realistic, instead of infantile and emotional.” This is designed to help anyone re-educate themselves away from whatever tragic stuff their culture poured into their heads, and introduces them instead to what it’s like to be far more mature and realistic.

The people who attend this class and marvel at the advantages of this teaching are quick to recommend it to anyone, saying it’s what they should have been taught as children but weren’t – hence their hard and painful lives thus far. They are there to train themselves away from temper tantrums, and from the infantile emotionalism that may have been tormenting them all their lives. This training assures those who participate that they can learn how to dump the childishness and emotionalism and replace it all with mature and realistic reasoning. Imagine that!
