Jean W. Wright passed away at her home in Grants Pass OR on Friday, July

DERXW D P VXUURXQGHG E\ loved ones. She was born Jean Mildred Watson in Los Angeles, CA on December 30, 1923 to Homer K. Watson and Nellie Maude Colburn Watson.

Both her parents were graduates of USC, as was Jean. She graduated in 1945 and was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Shortly after graduation she began her teaching career in Newhall, CA, where she met her future husband, Stanley Austin Wright, a WWII Navy veteran, who later became a civil engineer.

In Los Angeles County, Jean taught in Sylmar and at Sulphur Springs School in Sand Canyon (Canyon Country) where she taught a class of developmen­tally delayed children. She also taught ¿UVW DQG VHFRQG JUDGHV DW 0LQW &DQ\RQ Elementary School for many years. Her philosophy was “every child can learn”.

Jean was quite artistic and excelled in making ceramic animals by hand, quilts, wooden jigsaw puzzles, and Christmas tree ornaments. She very generously gave away many beautiful quilts. In addition, she was very skilled in the culinary arts.

-HDQ DQG 6WDQ PDGH WKHLU ¿UVW KRPH RQ a multi-generation­al family homestead along Sierra Highway in Mint Canyon, in north-eastern Los Angeles County, CA from 1948 to 1979. They lived in Quartz Valley, Siskyou County, CA from 1979 to 2006, when they moved to Grants Pass, OR.

Jean was a loyal wife and mother, a caring and dedicated teacher, a loving friend, and a woman of strong faith.

She is survived by her loving chilGUHQ -RDQ :ULJKW +RZDUG &DURO Wright Patterson, Katie Wright Cole, and Frank Austin Wright; her four JUDQGFKLOG­UHQ $QGUHZ 3DWWHUVRQ Marc Howard, Melissa Patterson, Eric Howard and nine great-grandchild­ren. She is also survived by Charles L. Wright, Stan Wright’s younger brother, who is also a WWII Navy veteran. Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband Stan (2006).
