Newhall residents rejoice! After months of delays and rescheduled openings, the Newhall post office at 23736 Lyons Ave. officially opened its operations to the public Monday.

“The window opened for first time this morning,” United States Postal Service spokesman David Walton said. “The P.O. boxes moved in on Friday… and were operational on Saturday.”

The new post office includes an automated postal center and a carousel for packages so residents do not have to wait to receive their mail.

On Monday, residents and customers were happy the location was finally in operation.

“It’s the closest post office (to work) and it’s convenient,” Valencia resident Jamie Phillips said.

Phillips noted that, although she lives in Valencia, she works at a tax office in Newhall and would have to drive across town to mail anything during the day. Now, she no longer has to make that commute.

Construction difficulties with the locations’ parking lot delayed the post office’s opening five times from November 2016 to mid-January 2017, then Feb. 6, then Feb. 27 and lastly March 20.

Now, following a tumultuous three years and moves to three separate locations, the Newhall Post Office is finally settled at its permanent location at Office 23736 Lyons Ave.
