Canyon, Trinity open seasons with losses

Moorpark 41, Canyon 0

The Canyon football team started the season on a sour note after losing to Moorpark on Friday at Moorpark. The Cowboys found themselves down by 28 points before halftime after the Musketeers scored two touchdowns in each of the first two quarters.

Silver Valley 58, Trinity 18

Despite an early lead for the Knights, Trinity fell to Silver Valley on the road on Friday.

Trinity Classical Academy jumped on the board first following a touchdown catch by senior receiver Ryan DeMarois. However, Silver Valley responded with 32 unanswered points.

DeMarois ended the game with three touchdowns.

Prep girls volleyball

Hart 3, San Marcos 2

The Hart girls volleyball team won Thursday by scores of 24-26, 27-25, 1925, 25-22 and 15-12.

For Hart (2-0), Allison Witherspoo­n dished out 41 assists, Ashley Cosey had 15 kills and Delaney Gibbs had 10 kills. Makenna Fall had 33 digs.

Dodgers 3, Brewers 1

The Dodgers came back from a 1-run deficit after three innings to defeat the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night.

Yasiel Puig was 2-for4 with a home run for the Dodgers, while Logan Forsythe was 1-for-3 with a homer of his own.

Astros 2, Angels 1

The Houston Astros beat the Angels 2-1 Friday night.

Kole Calhoun was 1-for3 with an RBI double.
