The detective investigating Saturday’s fatal crash at the intersection of Sierra Highway and Golden Valley Road is waiting on the results of toxicology tests before he proceeds with the probe.

Detective Mark Cramer of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Traffic Unit told The Signal on Thursday his investigation into the crash that claimed the life of 67-year-old Marie Davis is continuing.

“Right now, I’m waiting for the blood (tests) to come back,” he said Thursday, noting no arrests have been in connection with the crash.

Blood tests are a routine part of a fatal crash investigation. They indicate whether drugs or alcohol were present in a person’s blood at the time of a crash, and if so, how much intoxicant was present.

The fatal crash -- which involved three vehicles, including a city of Santa Clarita Transit bus -- happened Saturday shortly after 5 p.m. at the Canyon Country intersection. The bus sustained minor damage after a white Ford F-250 towing a trailer slammed into a Toyota Prius, driven by Davis, which was stopped at the intersection, causing it to be pushed into the side of the bus, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.

“There were three (patients with) injuries -- one with minor injuries, one with moderate to severe injuries and one DOA,” Supervisor Art Marrujo of the Los Angeles County Fire Department told The Signal.

Both of the surviving patients were transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, according to Marrujo.
