- By Signal Staff

Here’s a look at this year’s AllSCV Football First Team Defense. Jimmy Stirwalt, Saugus,

Senior, LB

Stirwalt is 5 feet 7 inches of unbridled energy. His motor just didn’t stop. He finished his second season on varsity with 78 total tackles, 52 of the solo variety, in 13 games. Reilly Royce, Valencia,

Senior, LB

A gritty, quick linebacker, Royce tallied 18 tackles and three sacks for the Vikings. He also caused two fumbles and recovered another.

Trevor Laibl, Hart, Senior, LB

Laibl put a cap on his final varsity season with 98 total tackles, with two for a loss, and one sack. Laibl also competed in the Blue-Grey AllAmerican Bowl in December. Ryan Camacho, West Ranch,

Junior, DB

Camacho is an all-around athlete who can get the job done at almost anywhere on the field, but this season, he really shined in the Wildcats’ secondary. He had 30 tackles and five interceptions for 60 yards. De’Maurea Pride-Ruiz, Saugus,

Senior, DB

Pride-Ruiz always seemed to be in the thick of things for the Centurions. He had 31 total tackles and two interceptions in 11 games. He also contributed on offense, collecting one rushing touchdown and one touchdown catch. Henry Vera, Canyon,

Junior, DB

The Cowboys can expect big things from Vera next season. He totaled five interceptions this season and is as smart as he is physical. CJ Ravenell, Golden Valley,

Senior, DE

Ravenell blossomed this year as a d-end, improving on last season’s campaign by tallying 79 total

tackles and 13 sacks for a loss of 86 yards. He recovered three fumbles, caused three fumbles and blocked two field goals.

CJ McMullen, Hart, Senior, DE

McMullen had 25 sacks this season. He had a sack in every single game this year,

with a season-high seven against Sierra Canyon on Nov. 10. He also chipped in 82 total tackles. Josh Washington, Valenicia, Senior, DL Washington was a sturdy, strong focal point for the Vikings’ defensive line. In his senior campaign, he had 13 tackles and three sacks while forcing three fumbles.

Josh DeNeal, Valencia, Senior, DE

DeNeal took the field alongside Josh

Washington and Ben Seymour. The result was a defensive trifecta. DeNeal contributed 25 tackles – including 19 for a loss – as well as 9.5 sacks for a loss of 50 yards. He also recovered two fumbles.

Aaron Rodridguez, Hart, Junior, P

Rodriguez hardly ever gave an opponent good field positioning, as he punted for 1,943 yards on 51 attempts. He also made 45 of 47 PAT attempts for 57 points.
