WALMART TRIES TO BRING ONLINE EASE TO STORES

When shoppers have grown used to getting packages dropped on their doorsteps, Walmart is tweaking its mobile app to make a visit to an actual store just as convenient. Starting this week, customers who compile a digital shopping list within Walmart’s app will find out how much they’ll have to pay — including sales tax — before they leave the house. Once they get to the store, the app’s new “store assistant’’ experience will include a map to guide customers to the exact shelf where they can find the item they wanted, such as a particular shirt, toy or coffee pot.
