‘Moncho1929’ exhibit now at The MAIN in Newhall
Now available at the art gallery at The MAIN in Old Town Newhall is an exhibit titled “Moncho1929,” a self-titled art exhibition showcasing works from the avantgarde artist, born Dan Monteavaro, known for his attention-catching commissioned murals and politically themed pieces.
The exhibition will be on display through Friday, June 15, 2018.
An opening reception for “Moncho1929” took place on Thursday, May 17, from 7-10 p.m. at The MAIN.
Guests at the reception were able to view the artwork, enjoy light refreshments and meet the artist, Monteavaro.
Through continuing evolutions in his world travels throughout London, Italy and Korea, Moncho’s work has developed a focus on social commentary.
He uses a variety of diverse techniques, ranging from graffiti and street art stylings, to traditional forms such as silkscreen and representational drawing, even integrating Warhol-influenced pop art aesthetics. Born and raised in New York City, Moncho now resides and works in Los Angeles.
The gallery at The MAIN is open for viewing during all events, as well as Tuesdays through Fridays, from 1-5 p.m.
