Applied Companies was recognized Wednesday by the U.S. Navy for passing a pre-production qualification test.

The women-owned and Valencia-based company is the nation’s leading manufacturer of environmental control units for commercial, aerospace and military systems.

Units produced are placed out into

service to control the environment. Greg Rogozinski, program manager at Applied Companies, said the units have the capability to keep electronics at a certain temperature and control the cleanliness via temperature control at medical units out on the field, for example.

Navy Capt. Patrick Croley’s visit, on behalf of the armed forces, came after the company received a multimillion-dollar contract to go into production after an environmental control unit prototype was fuel-tested.

The recognition was appreciated by all, especially the employees, said Rogozinski.

“It was uplifting to see a representative of the Navy for employees,” he said. “The recognition shows that there’s a lot of promise in the future for the organizers and the organization.”

Applied Companies, at 28020 Avenue Stanford, in Valencia, opened in 1958.
