Women In Touch SCV will bring women from all across the community together for their next networking breakfast at IHOP in Stevenson Ranch on Nov. 1.

“Women In Touch is a great place for a woman breaking into the community and getting into the whole scene,” said organization President Jennifer Ramos.

The group was originally started by a group of friends in February 2012, first meeting at the now-closed Marie Callender’s Restaurant and Bakery on The Old Road. Gatherings became more than just a breakfast group, turning itself into a group of women working to support other women both professionally and personally, Ramos said.

“This helps women. It’s a good place for women who need friends or women associates,” she said.

“We’re not category-specific (about business or profession). We want women to really learn from one another.”

Breakfasts where potential new members can attend take place on the first Thursday of every month, whereas official members meet on the third Thursday of each month at Black Bear Diner, where they focus specifically on internal matters such as individual goals and holding members accountable, Ramos said. She added that the breakfast is outwardly focused and intended to be fun.

“I’ve had men tell me, ‘Thank you for helping my wife,’” she said.

Admission at the door will be $22, including breakfast. Members only pay $15 at the door. Attendees have the chance to prepay 24 hours in advance for $17. The meeting will be presented by speaker Susan Marks of “Dear Nurse Susan.” She is a registered nurse and member of the American Cannabis Nurses Association. Marks will discuss the risks and benefits of using medicinal cannabis, according to the event’s Facebook page.
