UCLA Health set to celebrate grand opening

After its decision to expand services in other areas of the region in 2011, UCLA Health is scheduled to celebrate the grand opening of its Santa Clarita center on Wednesday.

The center, located at 27235 Tourney Road, has been offering services since 2016 but Wednesday’s event would highlight how far they’ve come and services yet expected for local patients.

“This grand opening celebrates all the services that are there and finally open in the building we own and have been developing for a couple of years,” said Dr. Matteo Dinolfo, medical director with UCLA Health.

Not new to the Santa Clarita Valley, the medical group has offered health care services on the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital campus and also has an office on McBean Parkway in Valencia.

In 2013, UCLA purchased the more than 37,000-squarefoot building on Tourney Road with plans to offer primary and specialty care, including dermatology, adult neurosurgery and rheumatology, by at least 10 doctors.

Today, with more than 30 physicians available, those services are not the only ones offered. More than a thousand patients have stopped by to receive care in hematology and oncology, obstetrics and gynecology, a variety of radiology services and intervention procedures for opioid use. It also offers a laboratory.

UCLA plans to provide additional services by 2019, including a surgery consultation center, according to Robbie Gluckson, director of marketing for UCLA Health.

“We are happy that we will be adding other specialties, but this ribbon cutting on (Wednesday) is a culmination of the past few years,” she said. “The UCLA leadership had a vision for the Santa Clarita Valley and that was to become community partners.”

While it took a while to offer a robust list of services, the medical group, which is also part of the SCV Chamber of Commerce, “is truly excited to continue being a part of the community,” Dinolfo added.

City officials and state representatives are expected to present UCLA Health with certificates of recognition.

The free event is scheduled from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Tourney location.
