Romance Writers of Santa Clarita
What: With only 15 members, our meetings are informal and casual. Normally, we have a bestselling author or someone discussing the craft of writing. These meeting are designed for both published and unpublished authors. When: 3rd Saturday of the month, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Brittany Foundation Dog Adoption Events, Saturday & Sunday
What: The Brittany Foundation Sanctuary & Dog Rescue shows our adoptable dogs at the PetSmart National Adoption Weekend events held four times a year in Stevenson Ranch. Additional dogs from our Sanctuary can be viewed on our website. The Brittany Foundation is currently scheduled to be at PetSmart every third Saturday of the month with more dogs that need forever homes. Please “Adopt, Don’t Shop!” Check our website for future updates. When: 12-3 p.m. Every third Saturday of the month

10th annual Wildcat Classic
What: A daylong display of musical artistry. More than 20 high school bands from the Santa Clarita Valley and around the region will gather for the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Marching Band Competition. When: 3-9 p.m.

Spartan SoCal Beast and Sprint
What: Grit and endurance collide at Spartan’s SoCal Beast and Sprint obstacle race weekend, which will bring thousands of athletes to a brand-new venue, Tejon Ranch, Oct. 20-21. Racers will compete in a three to five-mile “Sprint” race and a 12+ mile “Beast,” race, conquering obstacles like the Spear Throw, Barbed Wire Crawl and Monkey Bars. The weekend also features a Spartan Kids race course with age-specific distances and obstacles for kids 4- to 13-years old.Spartan events focus on sport and athleticism, pushing the bodies and minds of competitors to the limit across miles of unforgiving terrain while they conquer signature obstacles. With more than one million annual participants and more than 200 events across more than 30 countries, Spartan is the world’s largest obstacle race and endurance brand.
