Family and friends are saddened by the sudden death of long time Santa Clarita resident Mary Katherine (Molly) Hodson. Molly was born July 12, 1942, in Van Nuys, California and died November 24, 2018. Her family moved to Eagle Point, Oregon, in 1950 and Molly graduated from Eagle Point High School in 1960. She graduated from Southern Oregon College in 1964 and married John Hodson in 1964. She taught elementary school in Oregon until 1969, when they moved to Van Nuys, California, where she continued teaching until 1978. She worked in real estate sales from then until her death. Molly also volunteere­d with Habitat for Humanity in the United States, South/ Central America and Nepal. She was active in the Santa Clarita Sunrise Rotary Club, serving twice as president and receiving awards and recognitio­n for her volunteer work through the club.

Molly is survived by John Hodson and their daughters, Samantha Torrey Gregg Hodson and Kelly Leah Gregg Hodson and granddaugh­ter, Kayla Katherine Hodson. Molly’s intellect, contagious sense of humor and big heart endeared her to family, friends and all the soon-to-be friends she met along the way. May we all take the flame of hope she has passed on and use it to continue her work to make the world a better place. The family requests donations in Molly’s memory be made to the Santa Clarita Sunrise Rotary Club, PO Box 220152, Newhall, California 91321 or to the Salvation Army, 22935 Lyons Avenue, Santa Clarita, California, 91321. A celebratio­n of life will be held on January 19th from 12:00 to 3:00 pm at the Bridgeport Clubhouse, 27002 Edgewater ln, Santa Clarita.
