Fam­ily and friends are sad­dened by the sud­den death of long time Santa Clarita res­i­dent Mary Kather­ine (Molly) Hod­son. Molly was born July 12, 1942, in Van Nuys, Cal­i­for­nia and died Novem­ber 24, 2018. Her fam­ily moved to Ea­gle Point, Ore­gon, in 1950 and Molly grad­u­ated from Ea­gle Point High School in 1960. She grad­u­ated from South­ern Ore­gon Col­lege in 1964 and mar­ried John Hod­son in 1964. She taught ele­men­tary school in Ore­gon un­til 1969, when they moved to Van Nuys, Cal­i­for­nia, where she con­tin­ued teach­ing un­til 1978. She worked in real es­tate sales from then un­til her death. Molly also vol­un­teered with Habi­tat for Hu­man­ity in the United States, South/ Cen­tral Amer­ica and Nepal. She was ac­tive in the Santa Clarita Sun­rise Ro­tary Club, serv­ing twice as pres­i­dent and re­ceiv­ing awards and recog­ni­tion for her vol­un­teer work through the club.

Molly is sur­vived by John Hod­son and their daugh­ters, Saman­tha Tor­rey Gregg Hod­son and Kelly Leah Gregg Hod­son and grand­daugh­ter, Kayla Kather­ine Hod­son. Molly’s in­tel­lect, con­ta­gious sense of hu­mor and big heart en­deared her to fam­ily, friends and all the soon-to-be friends she met along the way. May we all take the flame of hope she has passed on and use it to con­tinue her work to make the world a bet­ter place. A cel­e­bra­tion of life will be held on Jan­uary 19th from 12:00 to 3:00 pm at the Bridge­port Club­house, 27002 Edge­wa­ter ln, Santa Clarita.
