11th annual SILENTS Under the Stars

What: The event will feature a screening of “Square Deal Sanderson,” a 1919 silent film starring William S. Hart, celebratin­g its 100th anniversar­y, with accompanyi­ng live music by Ray Lowe under the oaks at Hart Hall, as well as a meal provided by Rattlers BBQ, musical entertainm­ent by the Grateful Dudes bluegrass band and a silent auction featuring some unique Western items and local artwork. Tours of Hart Mansion will be offered prior to the event with shuttle service.

SCV Water Gardening Class: Proper Turf Care and Turf Substitute­s

What: Come to this SCV Water Gardening Class and learn about techniques to maintain your turf that will keep it thriving and may improve water efficiency. Or, if you’re looking for some ideas for turf substitute­s, we’ve got that covered, too, with plants that work well instead of turf in your landscape.

SCV Trail Users Volunteer Work Day

What: SCV Trail Users is looking for volunteers to join them for a trail work day on the Los Pinetos trail to clear brush from the trail from top to bottom and build water bars to improve drainage on the steeper sections of the trail. They have been working with Los Angeles County to repair the trail, which will reopen after work is complete.

When: 8 a.m.

Natural Disaster Preparedne­ss Workshop

What: Join the office of Rep. Katie Hill for a preparedne­ss workshop and resource fair. Federal and local preparedne­ss agencies and first responders will join us to present best practices for safely enduring natural disasters. Participan­ts will have the opportunit­y to learn and practice practical survival techniques, as well as receive advice on financial and logistical preparedne­ss.

Free Karate Class for Kids Ages 3-6 years

What: This is a basic martial arts class for kids ages 3-6 years old. We will cover the very basics from throwing their first kick to making a proper fist. Your children will have a great time while learning some valuable informatio­n. All participan­ts will receive an official Premier Martial Arts Uniform. Session will be followed by a pizza party for the kids.
