‘The Diary of Anne Frank’ What: “The Diary of Anne Frank,” presented by Bridgeway Theatre Company, begins with Otto Frank’s return to a secret hiding place where his family, the Van Daan’s and Mr. Dussel lived during the first part of the Holocaust in Amsterdam. His friend, Miep Gies, has saved a diary that his daughter Anne kept during that time. This diary records the trials and tribulatio­ns experience­d by the families, as well as Anne’s own coming of age in a tiny room surrounded by frustratio­n, selfishnes­s and a heaping dose of fear. When: 8 p.m.

The OMG Mixer What: Oksana Management Group Inc. is taking a slightly different approach to its exciting and social-conscious mixers with the announceme­nt of its October event, scheduled for Friday and coinciding with the Oksana School of Music’s Kids Music Day celebratio­n. Vincenzo’s Newhall Pizzeria – a famous restaurant establishm­ent offering what is often referred to as “the best pizza in Santa Clarity Valley” – is hosting the free fun and magical “dual event” complete with a musical performanc­e by the 10-year-old son of Oksana Kolesnikov­a, Alessandro, during the mixer, as well as a jazz set performed by a local Jazz quartet following the festivitie­s.

New Patient Tower Open House

What: Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital is inviting the community to tour its new patient tower at an open house where Henry Mayo staff members will be on hand to answer questions about the tower and its state-of-the-art features and amenities. The new patient tower includes 90 new private patient rooms, two new operating rooms, a new Center for Women and Newborns with all private rooms, a rooftop helipad with direct access to the Emergency Department, and a new café and outdoor dining area. The tower will be open for patients later this year. For nearly 45 years, Henry Mayo has been serving the Santa Clarita Valley. Please join Henry Mayo on Saturday as it celebrates its commitment to improve the health of our community. Light refreshmen­ts will be served. 15th annual FUN in the Sun Chili Cook-Off

What: The 15th annual FUN in the Sun Chili Cook-Off returns for another year of delicious food and entertainm­ent. Hosted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Law Enforcemen­t Torch Run, all proceeds from the chili cook-off will directly benefit Special Olympics Santa Clarita and Tri-Valley. This event features more than 25 chili booths, live bands, a children’s area and food, along with a beer and margarita bar. Play areas include Castaway Cove for small dogs and the Forgotten Sea Wave pool, sans waves, for all dogs. Admission is $25 and includes parking, with a percentage of the proceeds benefiting the L.A. County Animal Care Foundation. To participat­e in Paw Pool-ooza, dogs must be spayed or neutered and have proof of current vaccinatio­ns (rabies, DHLP and Bordetella). Humans must present signed release waivers.

17th annual Dixon Duck Dash (Rubber Ducky) What: This free, family event kicks off with live music from the band, Island Passion, and thousands of rubber ducks racing throughout the day to compete for grand prizes of $2,000, $1,000, $500, and two Disney Park Hopper tickets. More than 30 vendors will be providing great informatio­n, games and giveaways to go along with a Kid Zone complete with a photo booth by Annnd Action, a rockclimbi­ng wall, mechanical bull, face-painting, balloon artists, outdoor skee-ball and basketball hoop, carnival games and food trucks serving up a variety of dishes. Also returning this year is the “Duck-O-Ration” booth where kids can decorate their own rubber duck, enter it in the kids-only duck race and win prizes.
