On November 16, 2020 Michael Alan Wright, our beloved husband, father, son, brother, colleague, and wonderful friend began his journey walking with God. Mike’s love, sincere friendship, and perseverant service to all was a great blessing and an inspiration. He was an amazing father to Alex through thick and thin. Widowed from Alex’s mom, Laura Salciunas and later remarried to Alex’s second mom, Jennifer (Zaat). Mike stood with and for those he loved in this life.

Michael was born in Los Angeles to Cathryn (Compton) and Alan Wright. Mike made and kept lifelong friends growing up in Sunland California through to his graduation from Wm S. Hart High School in Santa Clarita, CA. Michael graduated from UCLA with a degree in Urban Planning. There he made enduring friends and joined the Alpha Gamma Omega Fraternity. After UCLA he obtained his Masters of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning from USC and did much influential work for multitudes of client companies, cities, and counties across California. After college Michael Lived in Long Beach and once Alex was born moved to Stevenson Ranch. He founded his own company, illuminas Consulting, in 2009, prior to that, Mike was a principal with Economics Research Associates, held senior positions with Grubb & Ellis and Ernst & Young.

He enjoyed his relationship with his brother, Steve whenever they could spare a minute or an hour for an early Saturday morning conversation. Mike’s joy for life and community set him on his next wonderful path to meet Jennifer (Zaat), his sweet wife over the last seven years. Michael was an amazing father, fighting constantly to give Alex all he deserves. He made time to take Alex to Carousel Ranch to ride horses, Capernaum Christian social club, Miracle League, 9 Round Boxing Club, advocated for Alex through all school meetings, and took beautiful bike rides. When he met Jennifer’s son Andrew, Mike expressed the same focused energy to find a common interest. Once again movies and music were the win. Andrew and Michael would watch quirky movies and share music from Mike’s giant library of songs and albums. We will all think of Michael most as the ultimate and inclusive family man.

Mike leaves behind his wife, Jennifer and her son Andrew, Mike’s son Alex, his father Alan, and his brother Steve, nephews Ethan, Cameron and Matthew; not to mention innumerable life-long family and friends gathered across his near 60 years of a deeply lived life.

We will all miss Mike dearly. His Godly spirit and deep connection will live inside of our hearts forever.
