Deputies: Man arrested with replica firearm

- By Caleb Lunetta

A man was arrested last week after deputies suspected him of being a felon in possession of ammunition and a replica firearm, according to law enforcement officials.

The arrest occurred on Thursday on the Oakmont Drive and Jason Drive in Canyon Country, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, a spokeswoman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“During a traffic stop in Canyon Country, detectives first learned the male was driving without a valid driver’s license upon contact,” said Arriaga. “A search of his vehicle resulted in the recovery of ammunition and an imitation firearm, which, at a glance, can be unrecognizable as fake.”

The man was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of ammunition and a replica firearm.

He was booked into the SCV Sheriff’s Station and subsequently released on citation to appear in court at a later date.
