‘Oliver!’ at the Canyon Theatre Guild

Consider yourself at home with Lionel Bart’s classic musical based on the Charles Dickens novel, “Oliver Twist.” The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourish­ed orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance among a group of petty thieves and pickpocket­s led by the elderly Fagin. “Oliver!” brings a cast of 29 who sing and dance classic musical numbers such as “Food, Glorious Food,” “Consider Yourself,” “I’d Do Anything” and “Oom Pah-pah!” Rated PG. ‘Murder on the Newhall Express’ at The Main

The Main, 24266 Main St., Newhall The Main is hosting the murder mystery event, “Murder on the Newhall Express,” a parody of the Agatha Christie tale. Guests are invited to try to solve the murder mystery alongside famous detectives such as Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marple, Velma and Columbo. A compliment­ary casebook and secret clue are provided. Tickets are general admission and can be purchased for $15 at atthemain.org.

Emotions at Play with Pixar’s ‘Inside Out’ at Discovery Cube

Emotions at Play with Pixar’s “Inside Out,” the first interactiv­e exhibit based on Disney and Pixar’s hit animated feature “Inside Out,” has arrived at Discovery Cube Los Angeles and will run through Sept. 11. The exhibit is filled with interactiv­e experience­s that help visitors understand the important role emotions, memory and imaginatio­n play in our everyday lives. Hands-on and digital experience­s focus on the five emotions featured in the award-winning film: Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust and Fear. Children and families learn to recognize emotions and explore how we express and manage our emotions.

You can catch a movie under the stars with your family and friends for free this summer at Central Park. City Cinemas in the Park take place every two weeks in July and August. Grab your blankets and chairs and claim your spot on the grass. City Cinemas in the Park will use the same event space as Concerts in the Park, allowing attendees to sit back and relax as they enjoy a picnic dinner or a meal from a food truck on-site. The city of Santa Clarita’s summer Concerts in the Park series runs every Saturday from July 9 through Aug. 27 with a lineup of new and familiar acts. The concerts are free and will be held on fields seven and eight. People are welcome to bring their own food and drinks. Food vendors will also be on site for people to enjoy starting at 5 p.m. There will be no backstage parking this year — all parking will be available in designated areas. Free Tire Collection Event

The city of Santa Clarita welcomes residents to dispose of their used tires at the free tire collection event, held in partnershi­p with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works and the Los Angeles Conservati­on Corps. Most tires and rims will be accepted with the exception of oversized tires, such as tractor tires. Attendees who are planning to drop off more than nine tires must contact the Department of Public Health at 626-4305540 to request a tire transport form. Valencia High School Clothing Donation Fundraiser

The Valencia High School Band and Color Guard will hold a clothing drive fundraiser every Tuesday until Sept. 13 to help raise funds to repair and replace old broken musical instrument­s. Men’s, women’s, children’s and baby clothing are all accepted. Residents can drop bags of gently used clothes, towels, sheets, shoes, sandals, blankets, belts, bedspreads, handbags, curtains, backpacks and linen at the Valencia High School student parking lot by the tennis courts off of Smyth Drive in Valencia. Look for the Valencia Band and Color Guard trailer painted in the school colors. All proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the Valencia High School Band and Color Guard music program. SCV Water invites the community to a Bridgeport community listening session to learn more about a planned groundwate­r treatment facility and its benefits and impacts as well as provide input during the early design and planning phase.
