You can join family and friends to experience cultures and customs from around the world at the city of Santa Clarita’s Celebrate event series. Celebrate will be held on the second Friday of the month from April through September and feature one culture at each event, allowing attendees to discover new sights, sounds, tastes and styles along the way. Mission Opera Performs ‘Susannah’ 7:30 p.m. June 9; 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. June 10

Mission Opera presents “Susannah” by Carlisle Floyd, an American musical drama in English, adapted from the Apocryphal tale of “Susannah and the Elders” and set in 1950s Bible Belt Appalachia. The production is directed by Mission Opera Artistic Director Joshua Wentz and features a multimedia design on the 46-inch LED screen, combining traditional theater with contemporary video design and virtual settings. Canyon Theatre Guild is ending the 2022-23 season with two new comedies this month. Jones Hope Wooten’s “Last Round Up of the Guacamole Queens” and Ken Ludwig’s “A Comedy of Tenors” are both running every weekend in June. “Last Round Up of the Guacamole Queens” is part of a series, being the third and final installment of the Verdeen Cousins Texas Trilogy. “A Comedy of Tenors” is a farce that serves as the sequel to Ken Ludwig’s wellreceived “Lend Me a Tenor.” Specific showtimes and tickets ($15-$19) are available by calling 661-799-2702 or visiting canyontheatre.org/shows. Growing up with a schizophrenic mother and a distant, alcoholic father in Japan, Kazu Kusano learned to use humor to heal her wounds and process her trauma. In school Kusano was frequently considered the “class clown,” an identity at odds with Japanese societal norms for women and girls. Despite the odds, comedy became more to Kusano than just a shield, it was her ticket to freedom. In her solo show, “Pretty Beast,” Kusano revisits the past to reclaim her present as an in-demand, L.a.-based comic and storyteller. Winner of “Best of the Fest” at the Crazy Woke Asians Solo Fest, “Hottest Selling Show” at the Vancouver Fringe Festival in 2019, and “Best of the Fest” at the San Francisco Fringe Festival in 2022. Third Annual Win Place Home Cabaret 7 p.m. Sunday, June 11

The Garagiste Wine Festival returns to L.A. with over 40 micro-production, commercial “garagiste” California wineries. The festival was co-founded 12 years ago by Doug Minnick, owner of Double Trouble, a wine tasting room in Old Town Newhall. The Happy Canyon AVA tasting seminar kicks off the festival at 11:30 a.m. for VIP ticket holders. The city of Santa Clarita is inviting residents to purchase tickets for the 44th Annual Santa Clarita Dodger Day. This year’s game will be between the hometown Los Angeles Dodgers and their longtime rivals, the San Francisco Giants. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online by visiting Scvdodgerday.com. Dodger Day offers Santa Clarita residents a chance to catch a ballgame with family and friends. Ticket prices range from $60 each for Reserve Value MVP to $99 Infield Loge Box seats. A limited number of tickets will be available in various seating tiers and tickets are grouped together, ensuring attendees will sit near other Santa Clarita residents during the game.
