Canyon Drama Musical ‘West Side Story’

Canyon High School Drama presents “West Side Story.” With music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, “West Side Story” takes Shakespear­e’s “Romeo and Juliet” into modernday New York City as two young, idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the Jets and the Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time. Tickets are available at the door: $10 for adults, $5 for students with ID.

The Canyon Theatre Guild’s musical “Xanadu” is based on the Universal Pictures movie of the same title, which featured Olivia Newton-john and Gene Kelly. Premiering on Broadway in 2007, Xanadu earned four Tony nomination­s, including Best Musical. A critic from Centerstag­e Chicago called the show “a hilarious, energetic and nostalgic trip back to the days of roller disco, mirror balls, glittering spandex, leg warmers and a synthesize­r-heavy ELO score.” Tickets $23 for adults, $19 seniors, $15 students. Splash N’ Dash Egg Hunt

Santa Clarita Aquatics Center, 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway

Members of the Santa Clarita City Council and members of the community have been invited to attend the city of Santa Clarita’s Splash N’ Dash Egg Hunt at the Santa Clarita Aquatics Center.

The event will take place at the Waterslide Pool, offering kids the chance to collect eggs as they rush down the slide and into the pool. This event is for children 10 years old or younger, and a parent must accompany all small children during the egg hunt.

Santa Clarita Easter Eggstravag­anza

10 a.m. Saturday, March 30

Canyon Country Community Center, 18410 Sierra Highway, Canyon Country

Due to the projected rain forecast, the city of Santa Clarita’s Eggstravag­anza will now be held indoors at the Canyon Country Community Center. There will be designated areas for different age groups for the Egg Scramble. There will also be a space dedicated to inclusive and adaptive elements. At 10 a.m., each age group will race to collect eggs in their baskets, with prizes ranging from candy and toys to special items such as bubble machines, stuffed animals and restaurant gift certificat­es. There will also be a photo opportunit­y with Mr. E. Bunny to show off your egg-filled basket. While the event is free with no registrati­on required, it is encouraged that attendees bring non-perishable items and canned food items for donation to the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry. Parking will be limited, so attendees are encouraged to utilize carpooling or other modes of transporta­tion provided by Santa Clarita Transit, such as GO! Santa Clarita.

Artree’s Flutterby Open Studio

Flutterby Open Art Studio is a free, monthly event held the first Saturday of the month. Families can create together, with multiple projects to try.
