As a child I remember every Christmas somewhere in the late 1980s to early 1990s my parents would drive us by a house in Exeter completely decked out in Christmas lights. The whole roof, covered row after row in white lights. It looked like the Griswolds house, and this was before National Lampoons Family Christmas was even a movie, if my memory is correct.

It was always exciting to see the brightly lit house coming into view at least a block in advance, virtually glowing among all the other homes in the neighborhood. I’m sure some of you know exactly what residence I am think- ing of.

In the spirit of that memory, and because I have a love of homes and all things Christmas, I have compiled a list of some of the best Christmas light displays in the area. The list specifically highlights some of the best residential light displays as well as some favorite area attractions that feature lights throughout the holiday season.

Lights at Beach, 867 Beach Street, Reading.

The light show is coordinated to music. Will begin for the season on Friday, December 4 and run daily through the holiday season. Upon arrival turn your radio to 89.7FM. The light shows music will play through your car speakers.

Simpson Family, 218North Sandy Lane, Sinking Spring.

Last year my children loved the Simpson family’s light display. Thousands of lights, music, and a glowing dance floor. My toddler never wanted to leave. The light display runs evenings through the holiday season but on Dec. 11 from 6 to 9 p.m. Santa will stop by with live reindeer! Snacks and baked goods will also be provided. The Simpsons are collecting donations and monetary contributions for the Animal Rescue League this year.

Canigiani Christmas Light Show, 2178 Weller Court, Gilbertsville.

The Canigiani family displays a choreographed light show at their home on Weller Court. It runs daily through the holiday season from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Turn your radio on to 92.3FM. The family asks that all visitors remain in their cars for the show and that cars do not park in front of driveways or orange cones.

Reagan Drive Lights, 61 Reagan Drive, Ephrata.

Another favorite of ours from Christmas 2014. Reagan drive features a coordinated light display to multiple Christmas songs.

Kozair’s Christmas Village, 782 Christmas Village Road, Bernville.

Open daily through Jan. 3. Admission is charged at the gate.

Holiday Lights at Grings Mill Recreation Area Wyomissing.

Open Wednesday through Sunday Dec. 4 through 27, plus Monday and Tuesday Dec. 21 and 22, from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is $5 per car. May your holidays be merry and BRIGHT!
