Slow mail delivery has had quite a few residents up in arms lately.

According to several residents, mail in the Pottstown, Limerick and Royersford area has been unusually slow lately. Residents have reported that mail has been arriving later in the day and sometimes mail isn’t delivered to their homes until days later.

Raymond Daiutolo Sr., regional spokesperson for the United States Postal Service, told The Mercury after speaking with local management that there are a variety of reasons residents may be experiencing delays in their mail service.

“Delivery times can be impacted by the volume of mail fluctuating daily, traffic, staffing and weather. This time of year, our workload/volume is very high and that can certainly impact the time of day that mail is delivered,” he explained in an email Thursday.

In regard to mail that has been delivered to residents days late, Daiutolo recommended that residents with those issues speak directly to the local Post Office.

“Regarding delayed receipt of mail, I would encourage customers to contact the local Post Office directly if they believe they have not received a specific piece of mail or if they believe they are experiencing repeated incidents of delayed mail. The local office can work directly with the customer,” Daiutolo said.

Customers may also call 1- 800-275- 8777 or email USPS corporate communications by visiting its website, www. USPS. com. Customers can expect a response to inquiries within 24 hours.
