Stamm named to All-Tournament team
The 16th-ranked Kutztown University women’s bowling team compiled a 3-1 head- to- head record and three bowlers were named to the All-Tournament team at the Saint Francis Terriers Knockdown held in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Saturday.
Seniors Lauren Stamm, a Governor Mifflin High School grad, Kayla Maselkevich ( Drums, Pa./ Hazleton Area) and Amanda Wilson ( Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) each earned Al lTournament recogni - tion for their efforts on Dec. 6. Wilson was sec- ond overall out of 13 competitors in total pinfall that bowled in two traditional games with 389, while Maselkevich was third with 379.
Kutztown ( 27- 18) started off the afternoon with back- to- back wins over Molloy. It defeated the Lions 953- 536 in the first match-up and 799547 in the second game. Maselkevich bowled a dayhigh 245 in the opening win. Wilson also bowled in the 200s, recording a 213. The opening win was a traditional game, while game two was used with baker scoring.
The Golden Bears then split t wo games with 18th-ranked Saint Fran- cis Brooklyn. KU dropped the first match- up, 887811, in a traditional game and won the second , 856831, in baker format. Wilson had a team-high 176 in the loss, while Taylor Strothman bowled a 170. .
KU’s victory over Saint Francis was its 13th win of the season over a ranked team. The Golden Bears tied St. Francis with a 3-1 record on the day, but lost the tiebreaker due to the amount of total pinfall.
Kutztown returns to the lanes following winter break from Friday, Jan. 22, 2016 to Sunday, Jan. 24 at the Kutztown Invitational held at Hiester Lanes in Reading.
