Exeter Legion leads West
Exeter was tied for first place in the Berks County League West Division at 7-4 along with West Lawn on June 26 with Shillington in third at 5-4.
In the East Division, Daniel Boone is 3-6.
Exeter
Boyertown avenged a loss to Exeter the week before in a 7-3 win on June 21.
Cory Melchior led an 11hit Boyertown attack with four hits and three RBI. Grant Fronheiser scattered six hits and three walks while striking out seven over seven innings. For Exeter, leadoff hitter Clayton Douglas collected a pair of hits and had an RBI. Nick Klee started and allowed one run in 3 1/3 innings while Dylan Richards pitched the final 4 2/3 in- nings and took the loss.
On June 23, West Lawn’s Gabe Hollenbach tossed a six-hit shutout in a 2-0 win over Exeter.
The Owls scored single runs in the first and second innings, which was enough for Hollenbach, who struck out five.
Eric Nein and Shaun O’Reilly had two hits apiece for the Blue Jays. Chris Smith was the hard-luck loser, allowing five hits, two runs (one earned), walking three and striking out eight in seven innings.
On June 24, Exeter fell in a non-league game at Phoenixville on a walkoff hit by Matt Osisek-Byrne.
Shillington
A strong start led Shillington to an 8-3 win over Daniel Boone on June 21.
The Red Sox scored five runs in the first two innings, capitalizing on control issues from Boone starter Sean Bologa (two innings, six walks, five runs).
Austin Baker had four RBI while Hunter Reeser and Isaac Ruoss drove in runs.
Tristan Kochel got the win (5 IP, 3 hits, 1 run, 2 Ks).
On June 22, Shillington routed Conrad Weiser 132. Noah Weber was 2-for-3 (two triples) with five RBI, Reeser was 2-for-2 with two RBI. Zach Wyrick (double, triple) and Earl Kochel also had two hits.
On June 23, Shillington again dropped Conrad Weiser, 9-3 thanks to a fiverun fifth inning.
