Berks crowns cheerleading, bowling champs.
Cheerleading
Exeter won the BCIAA Cheerleading Championships for the fifth year in a row on Saturday at Reading High School.
Exeter was followed by second-place Conrad Weiser and third-place Daniel Boone in the 5th annual league competition.
After the preliminary round, Exeter placed first in Division I, Conrad Weiser topped Division II, Oley Valley led Division III and Daniel Boone qualified for the championship round as a wild card.
Bowling
Exeter’s Ryan Chamuras and Gov. Mifflin’s Emily Garl were crowned Berks bowling champions last week.
Chamuras closed with a 279 in the final game of his two-day tournament to overtake the field. His 1,922 pins total edged out runner-up Alex Kline of Conrad Weiser (1,911).
Wyomissing’s Joe Hardy (1,902), Wilson’s Matt Fiorini (1,900), Muhlenberg’s Hunter Mikosz (1,861), Wilson’s Ryan Kahn (1,835), Conrad Weiser’s Daniel Althouse (1,801), Exeter’s Brian Weiss (1,800), CW’s Bryant Harper (1,797) and Gov. Mifflin’s Alex Coldren (1,763) rounded out the top 10.
Other top finishers, by school, were: Twin Valley’s Zack Williams (1,758) in 12th; Hamburg’s Jordan Miller (1,733) in 14th; Schuylkill Valley’s Michael Dailey (1,699) 15th; Oley Valley’s Brandon Gust (1,653) in 19th; Daniel Boone’s Nick Biagianti (1,626) in 22nd.
*** Garl led a 1-2 finish for the Mustangs as her 1,721 total finished seven pins ahead of teammate Lauren Weber (1,714).
Rounding out the top 10 were: Exeter’s Amanda Zappacosta (1,686), Wilson’s Tori Nolan (1,674), Muhlenberg’s Sydne Blankebiller (1,671), Oley’s Casey Keller (1,667), Muhlenberg’s
Madison Burkert (1,621), Muhlenberg’s Mercedes Roth (1,601), Muhlenberg’s Charlize Wanner (1,601) and Gov. Mifflin’s Alyssa Breidegam (1,597).
Other top finishers, by school, were: Schuylkill Valley’s Elizabeth Clement, 13th; Daniel Boone’s Alyssa Blood, 18th; Hamburg’s Er- ica Hartman, 22nd.
