Exeter crash leaves 2 drivers entrapped.
EXETER >> Exeter Police responded to an accident that left both drivers entrapped in their vehicles.
According to police, officers were called to Perkiomen Avenue and Beechwood Drive for a crash with unknown injuries at around 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the crash involved a silver Nissan Altima that was driven by Okon Hammock of Exeter and a westbound white Ford Ranger driven by Marison Santos-Mingucha of Mount Penn.
Investigators determined that shortly before 5:20 p.m. the southbound Nissan Altima had attempted to turn left onto Perkiomen Avenue directly in front of the Ford Ranger that was headed westbound on Perkiomen Avenue. The Ranger then struck the Nissan resulting in a “T-bone” type crash, police said.
Both vehicles were severely damaged in the collision and both drivers became entrapped. Santos-Minchuga was extricated from the vehicle by bystanders and Hammock was removed from the vehicle by emergency personnel from Exeter Township and Mount Penn fire departments. Both were transported to Reading Hospital for treatment by Exeter Fire and EMS, police said.
No passengers were in either vehicle and the drivers are not believed to have life-threatening injuries.
Traffic was detoured off Perkiomen Avenue westbound (also known as Business Route 422) for approximately one hour while police investigated and cleared the scene.
