CONNOR CHOATE (DANIEL BOONE)

>> Connor Choate had a standout season with the Marymount men’s volleyball team despite the fact that the season ended on a sour note.

The 6-foot-2 junior libero from Birdsboro (Daniel Boone) and the Saints entered the Continental Volleyball Conference playoffs as the No. 1 seed but came out on the short end of a 3-2 score to No. 4 seed Eastern Mennonite on April 15 in Arlington, Va.

Choate had a game-high 20 digs in the match to give him a team-high 265 for the season. He also had 47 assists and 37 kills, the team finishing 19-10 overall after winning the regular-season title with a 13-1 record.

“Connor has been an integral part of our success on and off the court,” coach Hudson Bates said. “He has the highest cumulative GPA on the team and he’s been the most consistent athlete in his position ever since we decided to move him to that spot a couple of months ago.”

Choate was an outside hitter before the staff moved him to libero.

“Connor was our high energy, motivator guy on the floor, contributing in some much needed statistical categories as well as many impacting areas that never showed up in the record books.”

The coach called Choate a true team player.

“He’s a joy to go to work with every day,” Bates said. “We are lucky to have him and many others like him on our roster.” CAROLINE KALLOS (GOVERNOR MIFFLIN) >> The junior midfielder was named Ohio River Lacrosse Conference and ECAC South Defensive Player of the Week on April 10 after another big effort with the 6-4 Washington & Jefferson women’s lacrosse team. Kallos had nine ground balls, eight draw controls and eight caused turnovers as the Presidents turned back league foes Westminster (16-2) and Transylvania (12-11) the previous week. She also had nine goals and three assists and leads the team with 24 goals and 10 assists for 24 points with a game-winner. She has 38 ground balls, 33 draw controls and 21 caused turnovers on the season. GABRYELE POCHRON (EXETER) >> The Hendrix senior was named Southern Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week (April 10) in women’s lacrosse. The 5-foot-1 defender had five

caused turnovers and five ground balls in a 1413 league loss to Oglethorpe on Senior Day April 8 in Conway, Ark. It was the fourth honor in her career. Pochron had 34 ground balls and 35 caused turnovers, the latter second in the league. She also had picked up two assists for the Warriors who finished their season 4-9 overall and 1-5 in league play after 23-12 loss to Transylvania on April 16.

The Keystone freshman finished second in the 400 meter hurdles at Moravian’s Coach P Invitational

on April 8 in Bethlehem. His time of 55.87 currently stands second on the Colonial States Athletic Conference performance list. He also finished eighth in the 110 hurdles in 17.09 after a personal record time of 16.11 in the prelims. That time stands fifth on the CSAC list. Fenstermacher also runs a leg on the Giants’ 4x1 relay and is competing on the 200 meter dash this spring as well. The Pfeiffer men’s volleyball team suffered through a 0-19 season but the 6-foot3, 215-pound outside hitter had a solid season with the Falcons. Keller had 99 kills, 60 digs and 11 total blocks and finished with 111.0 points. He wrapped up his college career with a strong effort in a 3-1 loss to Erskine on April 8 in Misenheimer, N.C., collecting 10 kills and four digs and posting a solid .217 attack percentage. It was Keller’s first year as a starter after seeing limited action his previous three seasons with the team.

The freshman midfielder has eight goals and 10 assists for 18 points and has scored at least one point in 11 of 13 games for the 3-10 Arcadia men’s lacrosse team. Pajakinas, from Douglassville, also has 10 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. He scored a goal in his first game for the Knights in a 14-2 loss to Stevens on Feb. 18. He had his best offensive game in a 9-8 loss to Capital on Feb. 25 when he had two goals and two assists.
