Playground program returns for summer
Kids ages 5 to 12 can experience this summer the joys of an eightweek summer playground program at Amity Community Park, Weavertown Road.
The 2018 program will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. from June 18 to Aug. 10.
It is coordinated by the Amity Township Parks and Recreation Board, and modeled after the eight-week themed program they ran about 15 years ago at Lake Drive Park.
Township Manager Troy Bingaman said the township has interviewed and will select the appropriate number of camp counselors/leaders to supervise and run the various programs.
Daily activities will once again include themed crafts, tie-dying, water games, kickball, snacks, and free time on the playground.
Some new features will be fine motor skills and agility activities, themed games and activities that are developmentally appropriate to growth, organized sports games for older children such as Four Square, and age appropriate activities with lesson plans.
Program fees for township residents are $50 per week for the first child and $45 for each additional child.
Non-resident fees are $65 per week and $60 per additional child.
