Stubler sparks Gov. Mifflin win over Exeter

GOV. MIFFLIN 34, EXETER 17 >> At Reiffton Oct. 19, Bryce Stubler threw a touchdown pass and caught two to spark the Mustangs in their Berks Section 1 victory over the Eagles at Don Thomas Stadium.

The Mustangs (5-0, 6-3) stunned the Eagles (3-2, 5-4) on the opening play from scrimmage as Stubler, a slot back, took a pitch and fired a flea flicker to Michael Franks for a 67-yard touchdown. They went on to score four times through the air, with three TD passes from Kolbie Reeser (6-for-15, 195 yards). He also ran for a score.

Stubler (four catches, 112 yards) extended Mifflin’s lead to 14-3 late in the second quarter when he pulled in a 40-yard TD pass from Reeser. Franks covered 132 yards off a pair of Reeser tosses, and Exeter’s Alex Javier had five catches for 107 yards.

The win was the sixth straight for the Mustangs (50, 6-3), who will meet Conrad Weiser for the Section 1 title next Friday at Mifflin Stadium. The Mustangs and Scouts are tied for first place. DANIEL BOONE 24, TWIN VALLEY 21 >> At Elverson Oct. 19, the Blazers held off the Raiders to win their Berks Conference game.

Tanner Vanderslic­e ran for touchdowns of 13 and four yards while Tommy Buchert had a four-yard rushing TD. Nate Millard kicked a 34-yard field goal to provide Boone (2-3, 5-4) its ultimate margin of victory as TV (2-4, 4-5) scored in the third and fourth quarters to keep pace with the Blazers.

Vanderslic­e ended up the game’s leading rusher with 148 yards on 25 carries, and Buchert had 121 yards on 21 totes. Boone’s entire 322 yards of offense came on the ground.

WILSON 3, GOV. MIFFLIN 1 >> At Reiffton Oct. 16, Bailey Peck scored on a penalty kick and Jailene DeJesus and Natalie Vicari scored second-half goals for the Bulldogs in their victory over the Mustangs in the Berks Conference semifinals.

Gillian Maack scored on a penalty kick for Mifflin.

EXETER 3, GOV. MIFFLIN 0 >> At Reiffton Oct, 15, the Eagles swept their Berks Conference match with the Mustangs by set scores of 25-8, 25-16 and 25-15.

Zoe Barna had 10 kills for Exeter, which saw Karysa Karas add six aces and nine digs; Maddie Tsakonas five aces, three digs and two kills; and Jasmine Sam two aces and two digs. For Mifflin, Savannah Harris had five kills.

EXETER 3, DANIEL BOONE 0 >> The Eagles swept their Berks Conference match with the Blazers by set scores of 25-16, 2517 and 25-22.

Abby Campbell had 15 kills and five aces for Exeter, which saw Zoe Barnahad add five kills and 14 assists, Carolyn Smith four aces and Megan Wilson five digs. Arden McCoy had had four kills, five digs and one ace, and Maddy Armstrong had seven digs and two aces for Boone. EXETER 3, FLEETWOOD 0 >> At Reiffton Oct. 20, the Eagles (150) swept the Tigers in their BCIAA playoff semifinal. Set scores were 25-21, 25-22 and 25-14.

Exeter now head to the championsh­ip match Tuesday. GOV. MIFFLIN 3, TWIN VALLEY 1>> At Shillingto­n Oct. 16, the Mustangs rebounded from an opening-set loss to handle the Raiders in their Berks Conference match. Set scores were 2225, 25-10, 25-15 and 25-17.

Briyana Shepard had 11 kills and five aces for Mifflin, which saw Sophie Leaf adds even kills and three blocks, Annie Francone one kill and four aces and Rileigh Hilbert six kills, one block and three aces. FLEETWOOD 3, GOV. MIFFLIN 1 >>

At Shillingto­n Oct. 18, Allison Brattley had 12 kills, six blocks, five digs and three aces and Rachel Grayek had seven digs, eight aces and 27 assists to lead the Tigers(10-2, 11-3) past the Mustangs (7-5, 7-10) in BCIAA quarterfin­al-round play.

Sophie Leaf had six kills and six blocks, Rileigh Hilbert had eight kills and two blocks, and Julia Ferrerro had eight digs and three aces for Gov. Mifflin.

EXETER 6, READING HIGH 2 >> At Geigle Complex Oct. 15, Chris Scoboria had five goals and one assist and Brandon Noecker had one goal and one assist to lead the Eagles (8-3, 14-8) past the Red Knights (2-5, 7-12). EXETER 17, MUHLENBERG 8 >> At Muhlenberg Oct. 18, Chris Scoboria scored six goals and added three assists to lead the Eagles past the Muhls.

Luke Scoboria chipped in with four goals and three assists, and Brandon Noecker added a hat trick for Exeter (9-4, 15-9).

GOV. MIFFLIN 11, MUHLENBERG 7 >> At Muhlenberg Oct. 15, Ben Gerhard had three goals and two assists and Aidan Hassler gad three goals and one assist to lead the Mustangs (5-4, 1410) past the Muhls. CUMBERLAND VALLEY 13, GOV. MIFFLIN 6 >> At Cumberland Valley Oct. 17, Jacob Novotny had three goals and one assist for the Mustangs (5-5, 14-11) in the loss to Cumberland Valley.

Ben Gerhard, Glenn Heckman, and Aiden McCurley also scored goals.

MIFFLIN 9 >> At Cumberland Valley Oct. 17, Emma Steckiel had three goals and one assist and Emilie Gerhard had two goals and one assist for the Mustangs in a sudden-death loss to Cumberland Valley.

Ava Enriquez and Courtney Novotny also scored goals for Mifflin (7-3, 17-5). Connar Melcher chipped in with 13save goaltendin­g.

READING HIGH 8, EXETER 0 >> At Geigle Complex Oct. 15, Fay Moser scored four goals and Kit Schroder added two goals and two assists as the Red Knights defeated the Eagles.

Kailey Hughes made five goalkeeper saves for Exeter, with Emi McDonough scoring another three. HAZLETON 15, EXETER 6 >> At Albright College Oct. 17, Cassidy McGee had three goals and one assist, Paige Wittich has one goal and two assists, and Catherine Rolon had two goals as the Eagles lost to Hazleton in non-league play.

MUHLENBERG 5, EXETER 4 >> At Muhlenberg Oct. 18, Orion Dupree had three goals and Arian Wolf had two goals to lead the Muhls to a win over the Eagles( 2-8, 4-15). Cassidy McGee scored two goals, and Cat Rolon and Catie McCulla each had one for Exeter.
