Mustang Club’s Trunk or Treat Car Show sees record cars

Event raises $6,100 for Disabled American Veterans

Mother Nature, who has not been kind to car shows and other weekend events this year, dished up a nasty cold and windy day on Oct. 21 for the 2018 Cabela’s Car Show in Tilden Township.

However, the weather did little to deter the determination of car enthusiasts or the members of the Berks County Mustang Car Club that promoted and manned the event.

A record 488 cars, trucks and motorcycles turned out for the event which benefits Disabled American Veterans. Registration topped 500 when including pre-registered cars that didn’t show up. Attendees came from as far away as New York City, West Chester, Philadelphia, Carlisle, Southern York County, Lehighton and beyond.

The Berks County Mustang Car Club Cabela’s Car Show precedes Halloween and as such, the show was designated a “Trunk and Treat” event where many of the participants decorate their rides for the season and have buckets or baskets of treats included with their display. Needless to say, this is very popular with the kids and many showed up in costume to join in the fun.

In addition to the car show there were 43 items in the Chinese Auction, a 50/50 drawing with a pair of winners each taking home $90 and over 40 awards and trophies for the car show participants as listed below. Top picks – Chosen by BCMCCI Members

The big winner of the day had to be the Disabled American Veterans as a check for $6,100 was presented to DAV representatives at day’s end. All in all, a great day… so take THAT Mother Nature!

The ride to the show in Jim Gilbert’s open 1923 Ford T-Bucket street rod must have been CHILLING TO THE BONE.

Denise Kurutz of Kutztown always gets into the spirit of the events in which she participates and this time was no exception. Denise dressed up as a Cave Woman. By day’s end, she must have wished her tribe had discovered fire because it was certainly a cold and windy day.

This 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon and the Chevy truck parked next to it drew the attention of everyone that walked past their unique display of the vehicles during the Berks County Mustang Car Club Trunk or Treat Car Show at Cabela’s in Tilden Township.

Alan Kennedy really got into the spirit of Halloween and decorated his 2016 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon to the hilt. Alan won the “Coolest Halloween Theme” trophy at Berks County Mustang Car Club’s Trunk or Treat Car Show at Cabela’s in Tilden Township.

Gerald Fasnacht’s wife Ginny and her best buddy, “Jack” are staying toasty warm in Gerry’s 1952 Cadillac Coupe de Ville.
